Dear Friends,
I guess it all starts early one morning 45 years ago in the Dillon
Mt. I consider myself lucky to have grown up in what I consider the
best hunting and fishing locations in the lower 48. Believe me; I
took advantage of it. My cousins and I were competitive since birth
and especially when it came to outdoor activities. This completion
drove us to be dedicated and strive for excellence in all shooting
sports. Got my first bow at 8years and joined the Beaverhead Archery
Club and remained a member until joining the MVA. Until I was
married and had a son my first priority was always the outdoors.
With this I focused on work to sustain my ambitions and for 10 years
I working for FH Stoltz a sawmill that once was a good employer in
the Dillon area. The early 80’s were very hard on industries and
especially the sawmills. !989 the mill was closing so I packed up
and moved to Ketchikan AK. To work for another sawmill this one
owned by Louisiana Pacific. This was my dreams come true, good
hunting and fishing at its finest but very costly. Knowing that good
things don’t last forever I focused on Brown Bear and Goats with
success. I regret not taking a Dall Sheep but someday I’ll hope for
an opportunity. In 1995 LP announced the closing of the Mill so I
returned to Montana and am currently working for Plum Creek near
Polson. I still return to my home stomping ground to Bowhunt.
Shortly after the move to Polson I joined the Mission Valley Archers
and helped to build the foundation. With a hand full of dedicated
club members we feel we’ve established our club for top quality 3d
shoots. 9/11 changed many lives to include mine. I reenlisted in the
Army National Guard, I know we were going somewhere eventually and I
proved myself rite when I was deployed to Iraq in June of 94. I
don’t regret any of the paths life has given me but I am happy to be
back home. After a 2 year absence and a greater appreciation for our
freedoms I look forward to working with the MVA and pursuing my
other passions.
Sincerely,
Dennis Delano
